At the end, Codex can search the catalog, read any product's pages, components and design tokens, and build with them in your project. You approve the connection once, in your browser.

Before you start#

  • An Orvio account with an active membership (Individual or Team).
  • Codex: in the ChatGPT desktop app, the Codex CLI or the Codex IDE extension. All three read the same MCP settings, so you add Orvio once.

Steps#

  1. Copy the server address

One address for the whole catalog.

    Server address
    https://mcp.orvio.design/mcp

  2. Add Orvio as an MCP server

In the ChatGPT desktop app, open Settings → MCP servers → Add server. Name it Orvio, choose Streamable HTTP, paste the address, save, then choose Restart. In the IDE extension, the same form is under the gear menu, MCP servers. In a terminal, one command does it:

$ codex mcp add orvio --url https://mcp.orvio.design/mcp

  3. Sign in in your browser

In the app, choose Authenticate next to Orvio. In the CLI, run codex mcp login orvio. An Orvio page opens: sign in and choose Allow. The connection appears in Account → Integrations, where you can revoke it at any time.

  4. Ask for a design

Start a new task and paste:

    Try itAdd the home page
Using Orvio, list Sotto's pages, then add its home page to this project, keeping its HTML and CSS as written.

Name the product to save a search. With an identifier from a product page, such as sotto/page/index, Codex fetches exactly that page and the files it needs.

Check it works#

Type /mcp in Codex: Orvio is listed with its tools. Codex should then list Sotto's pages and write the home page's files into your project, with the stylesheets it uses.

Orvio is listed but asks to sign in again? Run codex mcp login orvio (or choose Authenticate) once more. If it persists, see Errors and fixes.

Examples#

Orvio serves design: each product's source, tokens and layout, mostly as light HTML and CSS. Codex reads them and builds what you ask for in your own project and framework. Two requests made with Codex and Orvio: each image is what Codex built, and the prompt below it is what was asked.

More requests are in the Prompt library.

What Codex can and cannot do#

Codex can read the catalog and the files of products your membership covers. It cannot change your account or billing, and it cannot write to Orvio. Orvio shows only what its server records: it cannot see whether Codex is connected or what Codex changed in your project.

Tested with Codex in October 2026. ChatGPT on the web does not read these settings: it reaches MCP servers through plugins, which Orvio does not publish yet.
